    What I Ate: Pizza

Zuane (zwah-nay? zwayne? who knows) is one of those restaurants that you would go when you want to treat yourself to a nice dinner (it's a bit pricier, 15 000 TSH +) and not have to worry about rushing out or going somewhere afterwards because the atmosphere is so comfortable and inviting.

Cheese in Dar is one of those luxuries that you have to decide to treat yourself to. I've heard they have gorgonzola so I had to try one of their pizzas with this cheese. I opened up the menu and there must have been about 30 pizzas to choose from with a really great selection of toppings. The selection and uncut pizza makes me think of Terroni.

All pizzas in Dar are thin crust, which I love because there's more emphasis on the actual toppings themselves. I know some people who really don't like the pizza they end up choosing but my pizza was really good. I'd have it again. The portion is definitely enough for two people but no one wanted to share with me so my askaris got a nice little treat when I got home =)

What I Ate: Spring rolls, green curry

Oh Sala Thai. For some background information, there was a Sala Thai food stall at the Goat Races and when I ordered the Green Curry, they had just run out =( After that I was determined to go to the restaurant because Green Curry is one of my fav dishes.

Turns out that Sala Thai is not a proper restaurant but more like a fast food joint within a food court, that should have been a warning sign. All meals are 8000 TSH including a drink (which should have been another warning sign). We ordered spring rolls to start which were decent and I got the green curry which turned out to be a fried rice with green curry powder mixed in. Pretty sad. I was really hoping for...real green curry.

There are few places where you can get "fast food" in Dar, so I guess I'd return if I really really needed a quick meal but I don't hope to return anytime soon. Too bad.

What I ate: Nachos, chicken fajitas, savanna dry

In Toronto, nachos is a must whenever it's on the menu, especially at Utopia. I had nachos at Food Trends in Dar a few weeks ago but was disappointed with the chips were flavoured, like Doritos. Fail. Arizona's brands itself to be a Mexican restaurant and nachos were on the menu so I had to try. Their nachos are much closer to the real thing! Not quite there, but good enough for me to always have them when I go.

All the servings are more than enough for 1 person and the fajitas are even too much for 2 people. Downside is that the fajitas only actually come with 3 fajitas and so much chicken, veggies and rice that you'll have to order more and pay for the extras.

What I Ate: Pate, Chicken Schnitzel, Meat Pie, Fish and Chips

Dining in Dar was at George a few weeks ago and it was one of my favourite Dining in Dars to date because of the overall experience. The owners had everything prepared for us when we got there, brought out appetizers at 8:30pm, entrees at 9:30pm (so unusual for Dar!) and they gave us a great deal on the food - appetizer, any entree and champagne for 15 000 TSH (under $10 CAD).

Pate was wonderful but the bread they accompanied it with was even more wonderful. A few of us shared 3 different entrees because we couldn't decide and they were all good comfort food. The schinztel was my fav =) Drinks are cheap too and it's the only place you can get local beer on tap.

Downside: it's so smoky in there, it made my eyes burn.
